    Drew Hylbert Opower

    Drew Hylbert is Opower’s Engineering Director, overseeing the architecture team and overall software and systems design from the company’s San Francisco office. He was the evangelist behind the adoption of the Hadoop-based data storage infrastructure for time-series and event data, allowing Opower to scale data storage and processing infrastructure quickly and cost-effectively. Prior to Opower, Drew was Vice President of Engineering at, a social gaming and virtual good transaction platform where he was responsible for architecture and infrastructure teams. His work there led to the creation of a “friend relevancy system,” which processed ~1B events/day and returned relevant ordered lists in less than 100ms. Prior to hi5, Drew was a member of Yahoo’s map/reduce and data warehousing infrastructure team. His work there included the implementation of distributed processes across Yahoo’s network of content, which consumed about 3TB of data for a particular day’s worth of traffic. Drew earned his B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

    Anand Babu Opower

    Anand Babu leads Opower’s platform marketing and strategy efforts. Anand works with clients, partners and developers to create new sources of value that  leverage Opower’s analytics infrastructure and rapidly growing set of energy data. Prior to Opower, Anand led product management and marketing for SkyDrive at Microsoft, growing the user base to 200 million while launching key offerings for businesses and developers. Anand also helped define Microsoft’s overall cloud business strategy focused on Windows Azure. Prior to Microsoft, Anand led venture capital investments at Crosslink Capital focused in cloud infrastructure and cleantech. Anand started his career as a consultant at Bain & Company.

    Anand earned his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, MBA and M.S. in Engineering Management from Northwestern University / Kellogg School of Management

    Nancy Hersh Opower

    Nancy leads the Opower Analytics team, which utilizes quantitative techniques to drive energy efficiency. Responsibilities include program design, evaluation of client results and analytic innovations.

    Nancy has over ten years of Analytics experience. Prior to Opower, Nancy was the Managing Director of Business Intelligence at the Corporate Executive Board (EXBD), where she applied analytics to solve the company’s most pressing challenges across Sales, Marketing and Finance. Earlier in her career, Nancy ran the Analytics group at Digital Impact, an online direct marketing company, worked in private equity investing at Seaver Kent & Company, and was a management consultant at the Boston Consulting Group.

    Nancy received her M.S. and B.S. from Stanford University in Engineering-Economic Systems and Industrial Engineering, respectively.
